Supporting documentation

Our aim is to ensure that the account opening process is as simple as possible. To help guide you through, we have set out the procedures and documentation necessary to open your International Account.

When you open an account with us we are required by Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man regulations to verify your identity, your principle residential address and post code if applicable, and your income. To do this, we need you to provide some additional documentation with your application. If you are sending copies of the documentation, these will need to be certified copies of the originals.

Proof of identity

Suitable documents to confirm proof of identity are:

  • A current valid Passport – providing photographic evidence of identity and signature of the holder.
  • A current driving licence – providing photographic evidence of identity and signature of the holder. Driving licences that do not have a photo are not acceptable.
  • A current National Identity Card – providing photographic evidence of identity and signature of the holder.

Please do not post original identity documents to us.

Please provide a clear (legible), certified black and white photocopy of an identity document for yourself and any joint applicant.

The identity document must be valid (not expired) and show your date of birth, place of birth, nationality and signature. The signature on the identity document should be the same as that on your application form.

Proof of address

Please provide an original or certified document to confirm your current residential address if you do not already hold a Lloyds TSB account.

Acceptable documents include:

  • A recent utility bill (for example, an electricity bill or gas bill).
  • A recent account statement from a recognised Bank, building society or credit card company.
  • A recent telephone bill (not a mobile phone bill).
  • A recent local authority rates or council tax bill.

The document provided should show your name and current residential address. For joint account applications please provide a utility bill addressed to each party either jointly or individually.

Any bill or statement must have been issued within the last 3 months.

Please let us know if you require the original document(s) to be returned to you.

If you are unable to provide any of the above documents, please contact us to agree an alternative acceptable document.

Confirmation of your income

Please provide one of the following:

  • An original letter addressed to Lloyds TSB from your employer on formal company headed paper confirming your earnings
  • Recent 6 months' consecutive active bank statements - original or certified copies
  • Latest 3 months' formal payslips - original or certified copies
Certification of supporting documentation

All photocopies must be in black and white and certified by one of the following:

  • A director, officer or manager of your Lloyds TSB branch or a regulated financial services business operating in an equivalent jurisdiction to Jersey, the Isle of Man, or Gibraltar.
  • An officer of an embassy, consulate or high commission of the country of issue of your documentary evidence of identity, where this service is offered.
  • A member of the judiciary.
  • A senior civil servant.
  • A serving police or customs officer.
  • A lawyer or notary public or actuary who is a member of a recognised professional body.

A suitable certifier will certify that he or she has seen the original documentation, has met the individual (where evidence of identity contains a photograph) and that the copy document provided (which he or she certifies) is a complete and accurate copy of the original.

The certifier will also sign and date the copy document, printing his or her name clearly in capitals underneath the signature and indicate his or her position or capacity.

Where possible the certification should be endorsed with an appropriate official stamp.
